Tillamook is a beautiful city to visit sitting on the coast of Oregon. Roughly one and a half hours away from Portland, Tillamook can be a perfect day trip or if you want to relax and fully absorb the beauty coastal Oregon has to offer, then book a room at a nearby hotel or at a campsite!

The ONE place you have to go to in Tillamook

This will be your one-stop shop for everything. More importantly you can purchase all (almost all) the Tillamook treat for affordable prices, so make sure to get your Tillamook pizza, Tillamook Campfire Peanut Butter Cup, Peppermint Bark, and Sugar Cookie ice cream flavors, but don't foget about the cheese!

Your one-stop shop for all the Tillamook essentials will be the Fred Meyer location off the 101, just south of the Tillamook Creamy.

Things to do In Tillamook, Oregon

Before I dive in, first let me just tell you this county is beautiful and if you get lucky and go on a day where the sun is peaking through the sky, you will have unforgettable memories. There are so many activities to choose from in Tillamook and thankfully, there is a little bit of something for everyone. From Tillamook Creamery tours, coast beach walks, and prime fishing spots, I promise everyone will love Tillamook.

1. Tillamook Creamery Tour 

  • The factory itself is large, but guests are only welcomed to see the main processing systems. 
  • They will offer free cheese samples (the cheese curds are a must and only sold there!)
  • The lines for food and ice cream get very long quickly, so make sure to come early unless you don't mind waiting in line. 
  • There is a gift shop with all the cheese options, so make sure to grab the Tillamook medium cheddar, shredded cheese, and of course whatever other novelty items they have!

2. Tillamook County Quilt Trail

  • This is a self-guided tour with a map where you find quilt blocks or squares hanging on buildings. It is basically a scavenger hunt, but for quilt lovers!

3. Tillamook Air Museum  

  • This is a great place to visit if you want to keep the tours going and have children who have a strong interest in air crafts
  • $13 to enter

4. Blue Heron French Cheese Company 

  • Another great cheese tour you can go on is the Blue Heron French Cheese Company. You can get cheese and all the other dairy products the company has to offer.
  • There is a petting zoo for the kids!
  • They also serve Tillamook ice cream if you don't want to wait in the long line at the Tillamook Creamery.

This one is just for my anglers out there you hate being away from the water and just want a rod in their hands. There are so many great spots you can choose from and if you have your own boat, then your options open up as always.  

1. Nestucca River and Wilson River

  • All great locations for fall Chinook salmon fishing

2. Trask River  

  • Great spot to fish for Coho salmon

3. Nehalem Bay, Netarts Bay, and Tillamook Bay

  • Prime spots if you want Dungeness crabs

Places to Eat in Tillamook, Oregon

There are not a whole bunch of options to choose from, but there's plenty where you can definitely get a good bite of food, so let's jump in.

1. Chinese Garden Tillamook 

  • This is a great family-run restaurents serving wonderful Chinese foods and all the comfort food classics. They even have vegetarian options for those staying away from meet or fish

2. de Gard Brewing  

  • If you are kid-free and want to grab a drink, stop here. Make sure to get a bottle to go if you really enjoy their beer!
  • Just so you know, minors & well-behaved pets are allowed on the patio

3. Various food trucks  

  • Food trucks are hard to go wrong with and there are so many different options to choose from. So, if you are looking for a quick, cheep stop to make to fill up, consider one of the many food trucks in the Tillamook county area.
